Interview with Sam Li from Micro Turbo: Crafting Intricate 1/64 Diecast Models
October 24 2024 – Roberto Albertini
Q: When did the brand start, and how did it come about?
Sam Li: Micro Turbo started in 2022, but we previously had an association with Y.E.S., a brand with similar technology. Now, we focus entirely on Micro Turbo.
Q: What is the brand’s specialty?
Sam Li: We’re well-known for our 1/64 diecast cars with intricate details. Back with Y.E.S., we became the first to create cars with detachable body kits and spoilers for models like the Evo. Now, we’re recognized for our pop-up headlights on Miatas/MX5s and unique mechanisms in our tow trucks, box trucks, and fully chromed Dekotora trucks.
Q: What are Micro Turbo’s goals for the future?
Sam Li: As a small, self-funded workshop, our goal is to keep creating. We’re thrilled that people love our products, and we’ll continue bringing unique models to the community.
Q: Anything else you’d like to mention?
Sam Li: Just that we appreciate all the support we’ve received. We pour a lot of heart into our work, and we’re excited to keep pushing the boundaries of what diecast models can be!
Q: Any exciting upcoming models we can share with fans?
Sam Li: We’re always working on something new, and we take pride in doing everything ourselves, from molding to assembling and painting. Below are some first hand photos from our workshop that we can share with you. Stay tuned for exciting releases in the coming months.
