Pre-Order FAQ

Pre-Orders

Let’s talk pre-orders. We get a lot of questions — here’s everything you need to know.

What’s a pre-order, anyway?

A pre-order means the item hasn’t dropped yet — the manufacturer is still producing it, painting it, and packaging it overseas.

Once it arrives at our warehouse, we ship it out to you. Until then, it’s in the works.

Why should I pre-order instead of waiting and buying when it arrives?

Here’s the deal: manufacturers don’t like sitting on stock. They produce based on demand — and that demand comes from pre-orders.

Often, no pre-orders = no cars.

Pre-ordering:

  • Locks it in just for you
  • Usually gets you the best price (before it spikes or sells out)
  • Helps keep production runs small and collectible
  • Prevents the “I should’ve ordered it when I had the chance” moment

How do I know if something is a pre-order?

We make it clear. Look for:

  • “Pre-Order” in the product title
  • “Pre-Order” in the description
  • An “Expected to Release After” date on the listing

When will my pre-order ship?

Every product page includes an “Expected to Release After” date.

Items do not release on that exact date — they release at some point after it.

Delays are very common in the diecast world due to:

  • Production timelines
  • Shipping delays
  • Customs clearance

It’s all part of the collector game.

What if there’s a delay?

Honestly? It happens a lot — most pre-orders are delayed.

Manufacturers give an estimate when the item is announced, but updates after that are rare. If things go quiet, that’s completely normal.

If we notice a delay, we may extend the expected timeline to keep things realistic.

We do not receive updated release dates from manufacturers, so if you reach out for an update, we likely won’t have new information.

In the meantime: sit tight, grab a snack, and make space on your shelf.

Where do I find the latest release dates?

Manufacturers are not great at providing accurate timelines. Delays are more common than on-time releases.

That’s why we use “Expected to Release After” instead of a fixed date — meaning the item will release sometime after that date (and rarely before).

You can check:

  • Your order details in your account
  • The product page for the latest estimate

Why do other websites show earlier release dates?

Good question.

We add 2–3 months to the manufacturer’s timeline based on experience. We prefer to underpromise and overdeliver.

Other shops may show the original estimate — we choose realism over hype.

Will I get order updates?

Kind of.

  • First email: order confirmation
  • Second email: shipping confirmation with tracking

We don’t send updates in between because manufacturers don’t provide progress updates. After announcement, the next update is usually when the product is ready.

Can I mix pre-orders with in-stock items?

You can — just note that everything ships together once all items are in stock.

If you want in-stock items sooner, place separate orders:

  • One for pre-orders
  • One for in-stock items

Can I cancel a pre-order?

Yes, but there is a 10% cancellation fee.

Why? Because pre-orders are allocated and committed to suppliers, and there are non-refundable processing costs involved.

If you don’t want to wait, you have options:

  • Ship in-stock items now and pay shipping later for pre-orders
  • Hold pre-orders and bundle them with a future order
  • Swap for in-stock items (we’ll adjust the price difference)
